Adoptable Pet Highlight: The Fab Five

May 7, 2026 By Grace Clark

Pet Overpopulation Prevention POPP the fab five cats for adoption

On a recent late Saturday morning, during a POPP adoption event at PetSmart in Kennewick, there was a commotion outside the store. A storage tub with holes poked in it and two cat crates sat stacked beside the front doors. Inside, were five very scared cats.

PetSmart employees and POPP volunteers sprang into action. The cats were brought inside and taken out of their containers one by one. The team found two tabbies, one black cat, a calico, and one orange cat. All in good condition, but understandably very frightened to find themselves in this situation.

Strapped to their containers was medical information about each cat. The phone numbers associated with the paperwork led to dead ends. While we don’t know the previous owner’s situation, these cats had clearly been loved by someone. We do not condone the actions of how they were abandoned, but we try to have empathy for them.

After coordinating with current fosters, POPP was fortunate to be able to find a perfect foster that allowed for all five kitties to stay together. Now that they’ve been evaluated medically and found to be healthy and had a little time to decompress, the Fab Five – as we have nicknamed them – are ready to find forever homes!

Meet Athena

Athena is a beautiful, five-year old tabby who absolutely thrives on attention.

This delightful girl loves being close to her foster mom, soaking up pets, and enjoying as much companionship as possible. Athena has a warm, friendly personality that makes her easy to fall in love with. She is a truly delightful girl who would make a wonderful pet for someone looking for a social, happy girl!

Meet Pheebee

Pheebee is a stunning 7-year-old black domestic shorthair with a bold presence.

After all the recent changes in her life, Pheebee has been settling into her foster home and showing her true colors as a very sweet and gentle girl. She may take a little time to adjust, but once she feels comfortable, her affectionate nature really shines through.

Pheebee appears to share a special bond with Calliee and Aries, so a home with one (or both!) of them would make her especially happy.

Meet Calliee

Calliee is a lovely 7-year-old calico with a delicate, petite frame and striking looks to match.

Calliee shares a close bond with Pheebee, another Fab Five member, and would do wonderfully in a home with her.

If you have a calm, low-traffic home and a soft spot for a shy but beautiful soul, Calliee could be a perfect addition.

Meet Marson

Marson is a striking 1-year-old gray tabby with a beautiful, marbled coat that truly sets him apart. Marson is all about love and attention—there’s not a shy bone in his body! He’s quick to seek out pets, companionship, and any opportunity to be near his people.

If you’re looking for a friendly, outgoing kitty who will happily keep you company, Marson might be your perfect match.

Meet Aries

Pet Overpopulation Prevention POPP orange cat for adoption Aries

Aries is a handsome one year old orange and white tabby with a soft, soulful personality.

He would do best in a quieter home where he can feel safe and secure Aries has a special bond with Calliee, and would benefit from going to a home with her or another member of the Fab Five.
