Pet Overpopulation Prevention’s 2026 Pooch and Pal Fun Run/Walk
Zoom and Bloom
Pooch and Pal is POPP’s annual dog fun run, this year taking place on May 16th at Columbia Point Marina Park in Richland, WA. The event features a 1 mile or 5k run/walk, a garden themed – zoom and bloom – costume contest, food vendors, and more! Each participant will receive a swag-bag, put together by generous donors.
Pet Pride Flower Garden
This year, in line with our “zoom and bloom” costume contest theme, we will have a special Pet Pride Flower Garden. Participants can pay $5 to purchase a flower yard stake, where you can put your pet’s name and/or photo, and the flowers will line the race pathway. A fun and colorful way to celebrate, appreciate, and commemorate the wonderful pets in our lives.
2026 Pooch and Pal Registration
EVENT DATE: May 16th, 2026
LOCATION: Columbia Point Marina Park
SCHEDULE:
8:30 AM – Day-of registration opens
9:15 AM – Costume Contest
9:30 AM – Course opens
12:00 PM – Event ends
THEME: Zoom and Bloom! Springtime in the garden: flowers, bugs, and gardeners!
DISTANCES: 1 mile or 5K
REGISTRATION FEES: The entry fee is $30. Children 10 and under are free (strollers are welcome), and pooches are free. You may also register on race day from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Columbia Point Marina. For adults and minors, everyone will need to sign a Waiver Release Form before the start of the race. All fees are non-refundable.
*Cash/Credit Card accepted on Saturday.
EVENT RULES: All participating dogs must be currently licensed with proof of their Rabies (if over 4 months of age), Distemper, and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccines. Please check your records because even if you adopted from us, you may not have all the vaccinations required. If an incident occurs, you must be able to produce proof in a reasonable amount of time.
For safety reasons, retractable leashes or electric collars will NOT be allowed. Dogs must be kept on a leash at ALL times, with no exceptions. Leashes should be no more than six feet in length while on the walk.
Female dogs in heat are not permitted.
Participants are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs during the entire event.
Event officials and POPP staff reserve the right to refuse entry to any dog whose behavior could be dangerous to others. Please use good judgment regarding the temperament of your dog so that this event will be safe and enjoyable for everyone.
