PASCO, WA. October 1, 2026 – Pet Overpopulation Prevention (POPP), a Tri-Cities-based non-profit dedicated to helping with pet overpopulation in the community by finding homeless pets homes through a foster/adoption program and local low-income spay and neuter clinic, has been awarded a $4000 grant from McCurley Subaru to help cover essential costs for preparing animals for adoption fees this October. The funding was administered by the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), and the effort is part of Subaru Loves Pets®, a national Subaru initiative to support the lives of as many shelter animals as possible.
“We are thrilled to be back at McCurley Subaru for a fantastic adoption event on October 17th. We are so grateful for the grant we have received, and we will use it to provide 50% off all adoption fees at the adoption event. The Subaru Loves Pets adoption event is one I personally look forward to every year,” said Rik Mikkals, POPP Board President. “While we are a foster-based rescue, our goal is to ‘clear the shelter’, or in POPP’s case, clear our foster homes. We hope to find homes for as many of our amazing and deserving pets as possible.”
Subaru is proud to have donated over $70 million since 2008 to national and local organizations that help in the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of over 900,000 animals and pets.
McCurley Subaru will also help celebrate the eighth annual National Make A Dog’s Day by encouraging the local community to do something special for the dogs in their lives, adopt a shelter dog, or volunteer at an animal shelter and share the experience on social media using the hashtag #MakeADogsDay.
