POPP Organization Information

We do not operate at a profit. The adoption fees and donations that we receive in no way cover our expenses. We do not buy and sell animals on a "consignment" basis. We are an all-volunteer organization. There are not set hours for us to be available to the public. We fit this in with our jobs and families. The cost of housing, food, and veterinary care are supported by the generous contributions of concerned animal lovers.

About Help POPP Volunteer Foster

How can you help POPP pets?

As any loving pet owner knows, our foster pets are an investment in time, love, and supplies. POPP is well aware of this as our needs seem to always be greater than our ability to meet them. That is why volunteers and donations are essential to keep our programs in operation. On this page you can find many ways you can become involved in not only saving the life of a wonderful pet, but enriching the lives of families looking to add a pet to their family.

As you can probably guess, a lot of our donations are applied to the immediate well-being of our foster pets. However there are often supplies and needs that can be targeted more toward general use at our facility and longer term use. Generally these items are more expensive than a bag of food and need to be carefully budgeted for. If you or your company feel that you can help us with any of these items, feel free to use our printable donation formand indicate which of these special needs your generous donation should be applied.

POPP Needs Foster Parents

Do you want to give an animal a second chance at life? Foster care homes allow us to save the lives of animals that may have been euthanized at the local shelters due to lack of space. We could be helping more homeless animals if we had more foster homes. Please consider fostering a homeless pet. Being a foster parent is like being a grandparent...all the enjoyment of playing with or raising animals without the lifetime responsibility.

Volunteers specify type of pet to foster and you foster as often as you want. Puppies or kittens that are too young to be adopted may also need a foster home until they are old enough to adopt. Foster care periods range from a few days to a few months, depending on how long it takes to find a suitable home.

You will feel a sense of pride when someone adopts one of your foster pets. You know in your heart you helped make a difference for that pet. You may be thinking, "I could never foster a pet. I'd want to keep every one of them." Every foster parent will tell you that the thought crosses their mind every time they care for a new animal and it's time for adoption day. That's is definitely the hard part. But foster parents will also tell you that in order to continue helping homeless animals you have to be practical. Where would the hundreds of POPP pets be if we didn't adopt out the foster pets and make room for the next pet in need? This is an extremely rewarding experience that you will never forget.

If you are interested in fostering a pet, please leave a message at (509) 943-4722 and one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors will return your call. We work "regular" jobs during the day so leave a message. You can also email us at information@popptricities.org
